Why Donate?
Each summer, the Germania Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 conducts it's annual fund drive.
Monies, collected from the drive, go directly to fire education, prevention, and suppression efforts.
Those who reside in, work in, attend school in, and visit the Germania area should know the following:
- The Township of Galloway (taxpayers) did not purchase the land on which each of the six fire stations are built.
- The Township of Galloway (taxpayers) did not pay to construct any of the six fire stations.
- The Township of Galloway (taxpayers) do not pay for maintenance of, or the repairs or improvements to, the six fire stations.
- The Fire Companies themselves are responsible for paying for the station utilities.
- While the Township of Galloway purchases large apparatus (Engine, Ladders, Tankers, etc.), smaller vehicles like
utility trucks, brush trucks, and command vehicles are purchased and maintained by the companies themselves.
- While the Township of Galloway provides some money for the purchase, maintenance, and replacement of equipment, the companies
spend a great deal of their own money purchasing, maintaining, and replacing still more equipment and consumable supplies.
- While the Township of Galloway provides some money for the training, the companies spend additional money of their own
on training as well.
It is estimated that just over 1/3 of the companies' operating budget is required to be raised via the various fund raising efforts.
