7 January 2012 - At 07:00 hours, members from each of the five stations that comprise the
GTFD began arriving for annual refresher training. The Richard Stockton College Seaview Resort was gracious enough to host the event.
The morning started with a continental breakfast. The training began with some announcements by the Chief of the GTFD, Ron Garbutt, Jr..
Training was conducted by the Director of the Atlantic County Fire Academy, Chief Mike Corbo.
Refresher training included: Bloodborne Pathagens, Hazardous Materials, Right to Know, and Weapons of Mass Destruction. All of which is mandated by the State of NJ.
After the refresher training, Mr. Corbo presented a course on solar panels and their relevance to the fire service and firefighters. Several of the points made prompted lengthy discussions.
About 90 firefighters attended the training.
All units were back in service by 11:30.
