3 JULY 2010 - At 09:00 hours, apparatus from each of the five fire companies that comprise the GTFD joined many other organizations from throughout the greater Galloway Township area to participate in the annual 4th of July Parade in Smithville, NJ.  The parade is held each year to celebrate America's Independence.  This year, members from the GTFD were invited to Oceanville (Station 26-1) for breakfast prior to the parade.   Thank You to Station 26-1 for their hospitality!  This parade was also the innaugural parade for Bayview Fire Co.'s Utility 26-43. The parade lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes.  All units were back in service by 11:00.

31 MAY 2010 - At 10:30, firefighters from each of the five Fire Companies, that comprise the GTFD, participated in the annual Memorial Day services.  The services are conducted each year at the Germania Cemetary.  About 30 Members, in their Class A Uniforms, marched in and stood near the monument to the fallen.  The GTFD presented a wreath as well.  All units were back in service by 11:30.

19 APRIL 2010 - At 19:00, Firefighters from each of the five Fire Companies, that comprise the GTFD, attended State mandated Autism Awareness Training.  The training was conducted in the Galloway Township Council Chambers.  Firefighters learned what it would be like to encounter a child with Autism, especially during an emergency situation.  They also learned how to identify and respond to such children during emergencies.  All units were back in service by 21:00.

13 APRIL 2010 - On behalf of the Officers and Members of Station 26-3, we'd like to thank those Richard Stockton College of New Jersey students who served with us during the 2009 - 2010 academic year.

These students have no direct ties to Pomona or Galloway Township other than the fact that they attend school here at Stockton.  Many of the students we get are volunteer firefighters in their hometowns.  

Their service has been invaluable to Galloway Township.

We wish them well in both their academic pursuits and their fire service careers.

27 MARCH 2010 - On 25 March at 18:30, 10 Daisy Girl Scouts visited Station 26-3.  The girls were given a tour of the station and were shown the fire apparatus by Firefighters Ward and Umscheid.

The girls and parents participated in fire prevention activities as well.  They learned how to dial 9-1-1, practiced Stop, Drop and Roll, what a smoke detector sounds like, how to crawl if there's smoke, and how to go the meeting place, and were shown up close what a firefighter looks like with turnout gear and SCBA on among other things.

The girls also got to see the aerial ladder raised.

Afterward, the girls were given badges and shared some refreshments.

18 January 2010 - At 09:55 hours, Stations 26-3 and 26-2 were dispatched to 3 Harvard Terr. for a possible structure fire.  While enroute, Chief 26-21 reported heavy smoke showing.  First arriving units found a fully involved attached garage fire which was also extending into the the kitchen and attic.  Units made entry into both the front and back doors attempting to keep the fire in the garage area.  The fire was able to involve the attic of the house.  Station 21 (Port Republic)and 26-1 (Oceanville) also provided manpower and a tankers.  Firefighters extinguished the blaze and checked for extension.   Firefighters salvaged as much of the owner's belongings as possible.  The owners were home at the time and we able to safely exit the home.  One firefighter injury was repported.  Station 26-4 (Bayview) provided the FAST team and covered Station 26-3  Cologne (Station 18-5) covered Station 26-2.  Galloway Twp and Absecon EMS also responded.  The Pomona Ladies' Auxiliary provided refreshments as well.  All units were back in service at approximately 17:30 hours.

16 January 2010 - At 07:00 hours, members from each of the five stations that comprise the GTFD began arriving for annual refresher training. The Seaview, A Dolce Resort once again was gracious enough to host the event.

The morning started with a continental breakfast.  The training began with Sexual Harassment Awareness, conducted by the Galloway Township Human Resource Officer, George Wackenheim.  Mr. Mike Corbo, Director of the Atlantic County Fire Academy conducted Right to Know, Hazmat, and Bloodbourne Pathagen refresher.  After a short break, Mr. Joh McGowan covered Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.

All units were back in service by 11:30.

11 January 2010 - At 18:00 hours, Stations 26-3 and 26-4 were dispatched to smoke in a dwelling on Donegal Ln. C26-300 assumed command and informed all in coming units there was smoke in the house. Station 26-2 was subsequently requested for the FAST team and Station 26-5 was ordered to cover Station 26-3. First arriving units were ordered to perform a primary search of both floors which yielded no victims. Interior crews, using thermal imaging cameras, located and extinguished a small fire in the kitchen, checked for extension, and ventilated the house. Exterior crews threw a ladder and assisted with ventilation. All utilities were shut off to the house. Station 26-2, 26-4, and Station 26-5 were all released within 90 minutes. Station 26-3 units cleared after 2.5 hours. Galloway Township PD and Galloway Township Ambulance Squad also responded. No injuries were reported.
